The speed of light travels at 186,000 miles per second, beyond this there is no time or space, as we know it. This is where the metaphysical originates – that which is beyond physics. We know that there are particles, which exist beyond our reality, but at this present time they are not measurable.
The metaphysical is all around us, even if is undetectable with the human eye, and reiki somehow taps into this zone and brings into the physical that which is non-physical. Within the metaphysical levels there exist unpolarized energy. Which means that it does not have the polarity of such things as warm/cold, cold/hot, positive/negative, good/bad etc, it exists as it is. Only when reiki enters into the physical body does its energy become polarized, this is always in accordance with the needs and requirements of the individual receiving the reiki.
The physical body is energy, which vibrates according to wavelength and frequency, if these waves are imbalanced there will be a direct influence upon the calls of the body in that area. They are unable to function properly and eventually disease and illness will be experienced.
If we restore harmony to the frequency of the wave and thus to the cells, the body’s own healing abilities are able to operate more effectively, therefore health will improve. Harmony allows for the free flow of energy through the bodily systems, whereas disharmony will reduce the flow and so cause disruption, the body does not receive the amount of energy required to sustain health and vitality.
Reiki will always go the area within the individual where it is most needed. That could be on a physical, emotional, spiritual or psychological level. It is drawn from the givers hands by the receiver, who will take as much or as little as is required at that time. You cannot give or take too much.
Reiki is non-draining because the giver is merely a channel; it is not ours to give! Therefore the giver is not using their own vital energy. An added bonus is that the giver will also receive a small amount of reiki during the healing.

Giving yourself healing is a very important aspect of Reiki. It is strongly recommended that you perform self-healing regularly, preferable daily for the first month. As well as improving your health, it will balance and centre your mind, body, and spirit system, thereby allowing for a dramatically increased flow of Reiki energy during healing sessions. Most importantly, it will definitely increase your inner guidance, helping you to cope with everyday situations more successfully, as well as providing spiritual guidance when appropriate.

Be confident in your abilities, and have faith that Reiki will be looking after the procedure and ensuring its success. You may like to start with willing family members and friends. Chakra Positions
The Root/Base chakra is located at the base of the spine. Linked with red, it is concerned with physical survival, energy distribution and practicality.
The Sacrial chakra is linked with orange, is based in the lower abdomen, just below the navel. Its functions are creativity, feelings, sexual drive and pleasure, as well as exploration.
The Solar Plexus chakra is located just below the ribcage and linked with yellow. It identifies and assists in the sense of identity, self-confidence and personal power.
The Heart chakra is located at the centre of the chest and linked with green. It deals with relationships, personal development, direction and sharing.
The Throat chakra is linked with blue and it concerns are communication, personal expression and the flow of information.
The Brow chakra is linked with indigo and is often called the third eye. It is deals with understanding, perception, knowledge and mental organization.
The Crown chakra is located just above the top of the head and is linked with violet. It maintains overall balance of the chakra system, stimulating fine levels of perception, intuition and inspiration.
